Sonalake focuses heavily on employee training, development and retention, attracting talent with a mix of mentoring and regular feedback with formal reviews and personalised programmes.
Sonalake’s Graduate Engineer Development Programme is something that we are particularly proud of. We have seen it come to fruition over the last four years through excellent outcomes.
The programme was designed as a new approach to raising the bar on graduate development based on the cornerstones of a rigorous recruitment process; a highly facilitative and challenging environment; and a clarity of vision of what constitute the ‘complete engineer’.
Through the programme, Sonalake has witnessed rapid personal development and excellent job satisfaction feedback from our graduates and over the four-year period we have had only one graduate leave the company due to an opportunity to pursue a PhD.
From a business perspective, our graduates are attaining extremely high rates of productivity within months of joining Sonalake, and the majority have progressed to shadowed project lead roles within three years. This has allowed us to configure teams with a much higher percentage of graduate-level engineers than previously, resulting in significant efficiency gains.
Sonalake also seeks diversity in terms of education and professional experience, industry backgrounds and indeed social backgrounds. Innovation is more readily enabled when a diverse range of skills and backgrounds combine to succeed, and we have secured a super knowledge and idea sharing environment to foster this, supported by internal systems.

Reseller of the Year

This Award focuses on the business excellence of the IT Reseller.

[modal name=”award13″ title=”Agile Networks” size=”large” background=”” border_color=”” show_footer=”yes” class=”” id=””]
Agile was founded in the depths of the recession in 2011 to disrupt the IT network marketplace with a very clear and simple vision – to set new standards in IT Networks. In this short time Agile has challenged some of the largest and longest established providers to become the leading network integrator in Ireland. This bold claim is supported by several awards, significant market growth, and increased customer loyalty backed up a strong financial performance.
With the advent of cloud-based models and in a rush to broaden out, integrators have reduced their networking portfolio choice and become increasingly reliant on manufacturers to backfill internal skills shortages. This has resulted in the corporate marketplace being dominated by a small number of ‘end-to-end’ resellers with large fixed cost bases, inflexible operational models, and a ‘one size fits all’ approach to networking.
Agile believes ‘one size fits none’, building a business model around a multivendor portfolio and a unique operational model called focal engineering. By investing in accreditation, R&D, and significant spares holding of over $1 million Agile has introduced significant choice into the marketplace – becoming the dominant integrator for leading vendors such as Juniper Networks, Extreme Networks, Aruba Networks, and F5. In addition we have successfully introduced niche vendors such as Calix, A10, and Adva Optical to offer Irish enterprises bespoke technology that allows theme compete nationally and internationally.

In 2017, CMS Distribution became the fastest growing IT and CE distributor in the UK and Ireland, with sales rising by 81% from £178 million in 2015 to £323 million in 2016.
Part of this growth was due to the successful acquisition of Widget UK in April 2016. But organic growth also played a large part, with like-for-like revenue growing 25% compared to the combined sales of CMS Distribution and Widget in 2015.
The company also acquired substantial business assets in continental Europe. CMS Distribution BV, a 100% subsidiary based in Eindhoven, Netherlands sells in Benelux and will be a hub for sales in the Euro zone, and Newgen Distribution AB, in Stockholm, Sweden which sells throughout Scandinavia.
Throughout these changes CMS has remained able to offer great support to its customers, but also improved benefits to staff.
In 2016 a full time in-house recruiter helped bring staff numbers up to 270 people and a new people development manager was hired to improve the skills and career development of existing employees.
To accommodate the increase in staff, the London headquarters has been moved to new improved offices in the heart of London Tech City near Old Street and the Harrogate site has moved to upgraded offices within the town. Refurbishment for the Irish and Stevenage offices is planned in summer 2017.
Lastly, the company encourages charitable giving by its employees. CMS undertakes to matches funds donated by employees under its CMS in the Community programme.

Since its inception, Movidius has been driven by two fundamental beliefs: that there is a deep interdependency between algorithms and chip architecture, and that machine vision applications can only be effective at the network edge, running right beside the sensors providing the input.
When the company was founded there was no suitable processor-based solution and indeed no licensable IP on the market that could fulfil these requirements. This prompted us to develop our own processing architecture designed specifically with large-scale numerical workloads in image and signal-processing in mind. We embraced parallelism in order to achieve a programming methodology and architecture that achieved a “sweet spot” in terms of a sub-1W power dissipation for demanding workloads.
The resulting Myriad 2 family of Vision Processor Units (VPUs) are based on this compute fabric, backed by a memory subsystem capable of feeding the processor array as well as hardware acceleration to support large-scale operations.
The winner of the Tech Excellence award for Technology Exporter of the Year in 2016, Movidius was since acquired by Intel for €300 million
